1 Chronicles “First Chronicles presents a genealogy followed by King David’s dynasty and ends with preparation to build the temple. Genealogies are not a list of perfect people. David, with God’s help, establishes his dynasty and, despite the challenges, emerges as the second Moses, preparing the temple materials. 2 Chronicles “Second Chronicles shows how God deals with His people, especially with their rulers. It tells the stories of King Solomon of the united kingdom and twenty kings of the Southern Kingdom. It begins with Solomon’s construction and dedication of Yahweh’s temple (chs. 2–7), the climax of Chronicles, and ends with the hope of restoration after the temple’s destruction (ch. 36).
